The reason that the Ceslatos brothers were not presently in line is because they spent a few minutes getting lost. Prior to that, they got chow, each of them getting their own serving, and changed back into their unconventional, impromptu uniform. The momentary frustration they all felt at having been turned around so easily in their half-awake state faded when they saw a familiar face or two.

"Hey Razor, what's up?" Niko asked, smiling and waving as they shuffled into line. "You as excited as we are?"

"Who're your friends?" Alec looked at Sunny, Eddie, and Angus, giving them all a friendly smile. "Don't suppose any of them are in R&D too?"

Lukas's attention moved to the higher-ups at the front of the line meeting with the new recruits. One appeared to be a sapient quadruped, judging by the expression on it's face. No, HER face. From what he'd gathered, this was the Lady Wolfbane they were supposed to report to. Another wolf, Doctor Greymyst, stood up front, with her. His formal, professional appearance made Lukas wonder if this was what he might look like if he wasn't attached to his brothers.

Hearing his name, Razor turned his attention from the officers to the approaching conjoined triplets and smiled at them in greeting.

"Hey Niko! Fellas! Man, I'm ready as ever to get this goin'!" It was good to see them this morning, looking just as eager to get the day started as the rest of the gathered recruits. Glancing at the small group next to him, he moved to the side and introduced each of them, "Well, this pretty marten here is Sunny, the fancy bat there is Eddie, and the bear with the nice butt is Angus." He paused, his silence almost awkward. That butt part could have gone unsaid. With a cough, he turned back to the triplets, "Dunno 'bout their departments though....did you three already check in with your officer?"

He looked at each of the brothers expectantly, noting that Luka's attention was on that of the officers. He seemed a bit lost in thought...

Wonder what he's thinkin' about....

Shard remained in his place just like Lt. Areta has said to. "I assure you mam, Janitorial work, while a passion of mine, isn't all I an do." He said with a grin. "I would also like to point out that I am...well pretty good at martial arts." He said and ,making sure he moved to a safe distance away from any recruit or officer, he performed a flawless round house kick. Then once that was done he returned to where he was standing. "What do you think?"

not having had a very good morning, first having slept through his alarm, then having gotten hopelessly lost, Steven eventually found his way to the R&D tent. stepping inside, he looked around and saw the person identified the day before as Sylvian talking to a large red feral wolf. approaching the pair Steven was slightly startled to hear the wolf actually responding in slightly accented but very understandable speech. "good morning, Sir, Madam"

Angus blushed hard. He was lost for words for the moment as his thoughts begann to rush through his head.
" Ehhh ... hhhh ... Ohhhh .. am yes I reported to Commander Tigermark allready." he got out. to himself he thought that he needs to talk to Razor in a private moment about his words.
"Ohh and hello nice to meet you. Nico was it ?" he extented his paw to the cerberus for a shake thankfully for the distraction.

Sunny smiled warmly, briefly bashful at being called pretty, but she looked up and suddenly blinked in recognition, "Oh! I remember you! You were in line behind me at the officer's tent yesterday! Nice to meet you!"

Darius tapped his Cane to the ground. "ATTENTION!" He stared at the troops immediately before him and eyed them all, beckoning Sunny to the front and then Razor. He waved his hand to Tigermark to fetch the shock poles from the table nearby and toss them into the hands of Sunny and Razor. "Allright you two this exercise will gauge your abilities at hand to hand combat. Ready... set.. FIGHT!" 

Meanwhile Bane was sizing up those that had reported to Research and Development,
eying the hopefuls ther."So you want to be part of our science team. Should you find yourselves working in there you will report directly under me!" She paced between the recruits. "In research and development we pride ourselves on medical acheivements and technological advancements that would make most humans' head spin. Today we will test your ingenuity and ability. In the tent behind me are a series of drafting boards and equipment to make your own blueprints for a new and useful peice of technology as you may envision it. "

Sunny was all too quick to return to her position in front of the commander when she was called. Her bright smile was still in place until he tossed the shock pole at her. She caught it with a startled fumble in both hands, mostly to keep it from hitting her, and blinked her eyes rapidly, looking at it in dumb confusion for a moment. As it dawned on her what it was, and she heard the commander's words, she began to stammer, "Er, Sir... I've never real-"

But as soon as the commander shouted "FIGHT!", the marten looked at Razor and lost all her words. She ducked her head as if ready to flee and stared with wide grey eyes, ears flat against her head. She'd never really fought in her life. A childhood scuffle, perhaps, but never real battle or sparring. Even then she had been better at talking it out or escaping into her trees and underbrush. And now she faced a shark, a foot and a half taller than her, in front of the entire group of new recruits. She was well and truly outmatched.

He came to arrupt attention as the commander shouted for attention. He looked in pity at Sunny as she was ordered to the front with Razor.

Niko smiled along with his brothers just as soon as Razor introduced them all. Sunny in particular looked sweet and adorable. It was a shame that none of these fine, upstanding people were working in his department. But hey, as long as Lukas was happy, Niko supposed it didn't matter what he wanted.

Just as Niko was about to shake hands with Sunny and introduce himself and his brothers further, Darius called all of the recruits to attention, reminding them that this was boot camp and not an ice cream social. The brothers stood at attention, Niko saluting Lady Wolfbane as she briefed them on the exercise they were expected to perform. As soon as she finished, Lukas broke out in a large grin, eager to prove to his superiors just how much of an asset he would be.

"Alright, so are we all going to agree on one project or will we each do our own separate thing?" Alec asked as they walked in and beheld the materials they had to make do with.

"Well, let's see," Lukas said. "What are each of our preferred project ideas? I nominate the creation of an artificial intelligence."

"Strength-enhancing gauntlets, if not power armor," Niko said.

"A machine that allows a doctor to view other peoples' dreams. Maybe even experience them firsthand?" Alec said.

Lukas reached up and stroked his chin. "Perhaps we should start small, whichever idea or ideas we decide to focus on. We are barely above student-level, after all."

Garran wasn’t the only recruit reporting for R&D. He grinned broadly. More people on a stage means less space for everyone to perform, but trying to stand out from the crow would be a great incentive to his work.
Three of the recruits in line really caught his attention. ‘And I thought having less limbs than normal was a problem’ he mumbled.

He was going to meet them, but stopped at Lady Bane’s words.
Projects! Well, introductions would wait. They could talk while working, or after the trial.

Garran took up a notebook and a bunch of pencils, his mind already running.

‘So… what can I do? Weapons are out. The Overlord’s non violent politics could cause some troubles. That would be for another day. Magnetic levitation?’
He sketched something on the pad
‘Better not. Gyroscopic stabilizers? Banal. They already exist. Uhmm… well, that’s difficult.’
His sight wandered a bit, falling on his arm.
Oh. Right.

Razor flinched at the general's sharp call to attention, and was quick to return to his place in line. He'd socialize later now that they were getting started. When he and the marten were called, his did not expect what followed next. Catching the pole easily, his face creased with brief confusion followed by a slight narrowing of the eyes in further confusion when he was told to fight Sunny.

Turning his face from his commanding officer to the marten, his face fell slightly to see how absolutely terrified she looked, ears back and eyes wide. A huge contrast from the bright, cheery expression she held only moments before. Clutching the electric prod in his hands, his mind raced with what he could do. He truly loved fighting, it was a passion of his, and he wouldn't have hesitated if it had been another recruit....but he knew that the marten had no idea how to fight and had no drive to fight. She had expressed such herself.

Fixing his jaw, he glanced towards the Officer again before returning it to the marten. Hmmm...he didn't have to actually HURT her...disarming should be enough for Commander Darius to assess both of their skills.

"Yo' Sunny, don't looks so nervous" he grinned, "Just put that lithe form of yours to work and try to avoid me as best ya' can". With that, the shark dipped in to a low, sweeping kick, meant to take the marten's feet from under her. From there, he could pin her down and possibly end this fight quicker for the both of them.

Stepping into the tent, Steven quickly chose a table away from the door and sat down to think. having a penchant for weapons technology, but keeping in mind the overlords rule of non-lethal only, he swiftly went through several possibilities before settling on a simple design he had wanted to try since he was a child.

starting with simple sketches of basic circuit flow diagrams and sizing sketches it came swiftly apparent that he was designing a knuckle mounted electrical stun device. but there was a twist. Steven had designed in a full gauntlet and a much larger power source than the stun element would strictly require.

[Socks the Fox]

Late! Socks was late, and very frustrated by this. Being late meant she made a mistake, and she hated making mistakes. She had set the time for the alarm, but forgot to actually turn it on. She just barely managed to fall in in time to hear the announcement for where to report.

When she heard the words "of your own design," she froze. All the other recruits rushed right over to the draft boards, but Socks stood there, panicked about what to create. As she ambled towards her draft board, a million different ideas rushed through her head, but as soon as she thought of each one she shot it down as too grandiose at best, or unoriginal at worst.

Finally, inspiration! She sat down and began sketching, first a quick frame, then some of the key mechanics...

Sunny swallowed on the lump in her throat, hands gripping the shock pole for dear life as Razor made an attempt to reassure her. By the time it had fully registered in her mind what she might need to do, he was already moving. Sunny could improvise fairly well when a tree branch broke or a root tripped her up, but she had no experience with the movements of a body in combat. Instead of jumping over the sharks foot, she tried to back away, and her lagging foot got caught in the sweep.

With a startled yelp, the marten stumbled backward and tried to regain her balance. That part was easy enough, but the large shock pole in her hands made it more challenging. Releasing it with one hand let her wave the arm and balance herself more quickly, but the pole tilted awkwardly in her grip and she had to reach back over to steady it once her footing was more certain.

Once she was steadied, the small brown feet started to edge her backward from her opponent. Sunny's eyes locked back on the shark, terror replaced slightly by embarrassed anxiety, tinged with panic.

Keir wandered up to Tigermark, saluting and standing at attention. "Good morning Commander! Keir reporting for duty Sir," he chanted in a moderately loud voice.

There was a good bit of noise about as the other recruits went about the orders given to them by the officers. Keir looked around to see them all rushing off, some going to PT, some going to do other things for their department.

"I was looking into the military/ security department Sir," he told Tigermark with an anxious little shift in his footing. Keir noticed a practice training session between Sunny and Razor and curious about whether or not he would have to do that as well, and if so, who would  he be fighting?

Still in a crouched position, Razor watched with light amusement in his eyes as the marten teetered from her somewhat successful dodge. And yet, she didn't look at all comfortable, despite the fact she'd regained her balance. Had it been a more fair fight, he would have taken advantage of her momentary stumble, ending it then and there.

That wasn't the case.

Standing up, green eyes locked with gray as each step she took backwards was met with two steps forward on the shark's end. His approach was slow and predatory while his mind was busy working on another strategy to disarm her. His eyes shifted to look at the pole in her hands....and an idea sparked.

Suddenly his step quickened, bringing him within inches of the marten. Raising his right foot and using his tail to keep him balanced, he performed an axe kick directly down on Sunny's shock pole, in hopes she would freak and release the pole of her own power or the kick would force it out of her hands to the sandy ground. It wasn't nearly as strong or fast as his usual kicks, due to the fact he wasn't at all used to fighting with an actual weapon in hand. That and he didn't want to risk missing and knocking the marten square in the skull with a hastily aimed foot.

Sunny was wary of any further movement from Razor, and started to scramble backward clumsily as he approached. She was a bit too slow, though, and shrank when he was right in front of her. The sudden kick took her by surprise, and she attempted to grip her pole tighter, which had probably been the wrong decision. Her fingers, strong from years of climbing, held their grip just fine, but the force of the kick jerked her arms down anyway, bringing her with it. With a squeak of surprise, she stumbled and lost her balance, releasing the pole to catch herself on hands and knees on the ground.

Glancing up at the shark standing over her, Sunny regained that expression of total panic and covered her head with her arms, fluffy tail wrapping around protectively and turning her into a quivering ball of purple silk and gold fur.

Keeping his foot firmly on Sunny's pole, his own pole was held in a light grip in his hand. Staring down at the shaking recruit, he sighed, gills flaring slightly with the action. He hadn't wanted to scare her...but this was better than actually having to hit her in his opinion. Hopefully this small scuffle would be enough for General Steele and they didn't have to fight further. Heck, it was hardly a fight at this point...

"Sunny...I ain't goin' hurt you, alright?" He tried his best to sound reassuring, friendly, but he doubted it'd do much for the her right at this moment.

Planting his shock pole into the ground, keeping his hand on the metal weapon, he knelt in front of Sunny. Hesitantly, he reached out a hand to rub the girl's shoulder gently, talking to her quiet tone saying things along the lines of "Hey, you're ok. You did fine. Didn't mean to scare you" and other such reassuring words. Despite this,  his guard was still up and his foot was still on her pole, experience having taught him long ago never to underestimate an opponent, even if they were hypothetically (or physically) down.  However, he spared a glance at Steele out of the corner of his eye, waiting for any instruction.

Personally, Razor thought there was really nothing to continue here, but the human officer might think otherwise.

[Admin]

Darius looked down at Sunny and then at Razor. "Stop." He walked over and offered his hand to help Sunny up and eyed Razor before pointing at Angus and looking at Tigermark. "Right... Commander get a shock pole to the bear and we'll have these two sparr, give the others sparring partners as well. I need to speak with miss Sunday."

He led the Marten away from the group untill he was certain they were out of earshot and his expression softened. "Pacifist hmm?" There was a hint of a smile on his face as he pulled a peice of cloth from his lapel which looked like a handkercheif. It was bright golden yellow and carried his scent on it.

Not far away leaning on aviary perches were some young Chimenticores looking to train with the other flyers in Tigermark's ranks. Darius tossed the handkercheif to one of them. "Go into the jungle and hide this."  He watched as the creature flew off and then turned to Sunny. "You are going to lead me to that scrap of cloth. Don't worry about having me keep up, I want to watch you from a distance to see how you track and find an objective. Lets go."

The pencil was running hastily on the paper. Garran didn’t need precise calculation to prove that the concept would work. He just focused on showing.

Receptors, slightly modified voltmeters, collect electrical stimuli of the broken nerves as potential difference. A set of amplifiers increased the signal.

Signals are spread to stepper motors that supply muscles. A battery allows otherwise weak signals to activate them (see amplifiers above).

He kept sketching in even more detail.

To avoid wasting energy, every joint has a friction. It remains locked unless signals vary, so that gripping something or remaining steady don’t need energy at all.

Frictions are clamps that can be set free by a magnet.

Skeletal structure is made of titanium (even if he used aluminum, iron and spare pieces) and has a triangular-shaped pattern to be light and resist deformations. Plating is advised only to shield most delicate parts.

Shoulder bones support advised.

Estimated weight: 20 lb; estimated carried weight: 13 lb; estimated battery lifetime: 4 h (up to 10 h if minimal use).

Garran had to admit that was a bit of a mess. It was the first time he actually revised the project, and he saw many flaws. He didn’t have enough knowledge and resources. Let’s try to make some improvements!

Electronics would allow to elaborate neural signals with great precision, granting better control and time reaction, as well as diminishing need of amplification. Alternative materials can reduce weight (carbon fiber plating?) and silver wiring can reduce the need of amplification as well… He reached for a book and skimmed the pages swiftly.

Time was running and Garran with it.

Sunny flinched slightly when Razor touched her, but calmed slightly when she realized he didn't plan to keep up the fight. She raised her head warily and looked up, feeling absolutely humiliated and shaken. When the Commander approached, she looked down, ears drooping.

As the commander led her away, she was sure she was going to be sent home, until she glanced up at saw his expression. Ears perking every so softly, she swallowed her nerves, "I'm sorry, sir. I've never fought before... I-..."

When she realized he wasn't upset by her humiliating performance, she stared with her mouth hanging open. She barely noticed the strange Chimenticores as he passed off the handkerchief and told her she was to go find it. She bit her lip softly and nodded, gratitude written all over her white face. A hopeful and bashful little smile bloomed on her face, "Y-yes sir... Thank you sir..."

She took a deep breath while she was still standing beside Commander Steele, taking note of his scent before looking out the direction the Chimenticore flew. She hadn't been into the jungle in this direction yet, but the new challenge was like a breath of fresh air.

The little marten scurried forward into the jungle without hesitating. She immediately took to the first large tree and clambered up with the ease of years doing the same on her home island. With the improved vantage point of height, she kept an eye forward and up, just in case she saw the Chimenticore returning to give her a hint. Running down the length of the first large branch that would support her, she hopped to the next tree and continued to climb, always keeping her eyes out for the yellow cloth in the lush green foliage.

Sunny's flinch hadn't gone unnoticed, and neither had the look the officer had given him. He was, however, very relieved when Commander Steele called the fight. Seeing that Sunny was being beckoned a way, Razor could only hope that it wasn't to have her removed from the island due to her inability to fight...naw..that wouldn't happen, the commander seemed like a man who could find a place for anyone.

That didn't stop the slight worrying in his chest though.

Shaking it off for now, he planned to talk to Sunny later, and see how things went. Turning to the Angus, he half smirked.  "Looks like you and me are gonna go at it bro. Won't be goin' so easy on you".

[Tigermark]

Tigermark had watched the fight with a critical eye. Sunny ...was totally lost. Razor had shown great restraint, and a good discipline in disarming her without hurting her. he'd also shown himslef well-trained in that he didn't let down his guard, even when confronted with the cute, quivering ball of fluff she'd become in the end.

"Well done, Recruit Triakis. Don't let cute get you to let your guard down. The Overlord isn't the only one to employ it. Some of her enemies use small, seemingly defenseless creeatures as scouts and spies. Don't be fooled. They can and will kill you with a smile on their face."

Tossing a stun rod to O'Brown, who caught it and began to look it over, Tigermark continued.

"These are the preferred weapon of the Overlord's forces. They are a Mark IV Stun Lances. The ones you will use here in training are derated to deliver a light shock, rather than a full stun. Now, Recruit Triakis, Recruit O'Brown, You two prepare. Recruit Nielson, Recruit Mahlonne, watch carefully, you're next!"

Turning to watch the shark and bear carefully, Tigermark commanded, "FIGHT!"

"Yes Sir!" Keir replied to the Commander. He removed his hat and placed it on a nearby bench, making sure as to keep the brim flat. He then turned around to see Angus and the shark Razor prowling about in the ring, waiting to see who would strike first, and how they would react. He noticed a slight bounce in Razor's step, probably from years of practice in fighting, and from the strength in his powerful legs. Keir took a moment to swing his arms a bit away from everyone so as not to hit them and create disruptions this early in his career.

Moving about and stretching in little amounts here and there, and watching the scene play out, Keir could feel the adrenaline rushing headlong through his veins, the blood pumping through his ears with moderate noise.
