Brief character description:
With a light brown fur coat, medium brown hair and dark brown wings and ears, Eddie's coloring were always considered unremarkable. His face enhanced that impression, lacking in features distinguishing him from most people's image of the common bat. He has usually been remembered as laid-back, with his unkempt hair taken as proof, and unconfrontational, preferring to defuse situations with a lazy smile.

Character background/history:
Eddie's formative years on Màti were happy. He was the youngest of three, and his parents were in good standing in the small town. With his brother and sister to follow in their parents' footsteps, Eddie was free to play hide and seek. As he grew older, he started doing odd jobs for people in town when needed, without settling for a particular career. Unlike some contemporaries in a similar situation, he took care to keep out of most trouble. As a result, he became well liked by most people in town, if considered lacking in ambition. Indeed, he worked hard enough to warrant steady employment, were it not for his lack of interest.

When not working, or being available for work, he took up being in a nearby forest, usually after sunset. In the dark forest, he enjoyed being able to flex his muscles and the senses of old. The one's who knew about it, took it as a sign that he might move to a smaller village on Màti, if he ever lost interest in doing odd jobs in his birth town. Most everyone were surprised when it became known that he was headed to Aukate to enroll.

With paperwork filled out, and a bag of clothes and possessions, Edward Nielsen is now at the docks of the main city of Màti, waiting for the ship to Aukate. He's dressed in a simple modified singlet, pants and worn shoes. He's thinking about his parents, and is glad the goodbyes went well. When the ship arrives, he embarks without hesitation.
