"Recruit Mahlonne," Tigermark acknowledged, taking the lance from the recruit and repeating his inspection process. he then returned the lance and took the clip to inspect. Finding both clean to his satisfaction, he addressed the recruit.

"Very well done, recruit. If you are this conscientious with these all through training, I may recommend you for duty as an armorer. Now, go rack your lance and put the clip in the charger, and then get ready for PT before lunch. Dismissed."

He then turned to the bat, who'd finally gotten himself together and properly reported.

"Recruit Nielson."

He took the lance and inspected it as he had the others. he then returned it and inspected the clip. Passing it back, he spoke to to the recruit.

"Good, Recruit. Rack your lance and put the clip in the charger. Then standby for PT."

He then waited for the last recruit to report.

Looked like he was next.

Stepping up to the Commander,  he stood at attention.  Back straight,  shoulders back, and head slightly inclined due to the officer's superior height, he presnted his lance and clip.

"Sir!" His voice was clear and crisp, looking the white tiger in the eye as he spoke. "Recruit Triakis reportin' as ordered. My lance is ready for inspection".

He had fully recovered from his scare from earlier and halfway hoped the commander had missed his little...well, he wouldn't call it a moment of weakness. Maybe more of a mini heart attack.  Whatever someone would call it, it had passed and he was ready to get on with the training.

Hopefully he didn't botch the cleaning job. Even with Keir's brief look over, he was still feeling a sliver of nervousness standing in front of Tigermark

"Yes sir!" Keir replied to the Commander, taking his lance back and stepping out of line to let Razor step forward to present his lance. He nudged Razor with his elbow. "I'll be sure to look you up later," Keir teased him, remembering his little jump at the suspenseful moments just a few minutes ago.

He placed his lance back in the rack and slipped the battery into the charger, his stomach growling at the mention of lunch. "An armorer huh?" Keir thought to him self. "That might an interesting profession to take up on." He looked over at Eddie and Razor, watching Tigermark examine the final recruits weapon.

Shard had, by now, filled his bag with a decent collection of fruits and Vegetables he found in the jungle. His search however had taken him into some of the dense foliage and he had to push trough them, he had nearly lost a boot when he stepped in a patch of mud but he had managed to get it out before it came off his foot. tired from that effort he grabbed hold of a low hanging vine to rest a few seconds before he continued...this Vine however felt strange...so he looked and found himself holding onto a very angry looking creature. Shard had never seen anything like it before because his home island Tiànuare is too cold for any creature like it, so he was terrified...and well, He screamed his lungs out and ran for it. Disturbing a nest of bats in the process. Finally he burst out of the jungle bag still in hand and still screaming with a bunch of bats chasing him.

Vince was only a few steps into the forest when he turned around and jogged back to the mess where he'd gotten the bag. There, he asked for a knife, or clippers, for some of the native plants had woody stems, and he wasn't so keen on trying to pick their fruit barehanded. Tool acquired, Vince returned to the jungle by the stream. He hadn't walked too far when he spotted something pinkish across the stream to his left. While the stream wasn't particularly shallow here, there were stones sticking above the surface of the water that appeared to be usable as stepping stones.

He was most of the way across the water when he recognized the fruit; rose apples, while not true apples, could for the most part be prepared as if they were. The momentary inattention cost him, however. As he stepped forward toward the next stone, the rock underfoot shifted. Unable to regain his balance in time, Vince splashed into the knee-deep water. He waded the rest of the way to shore, grumbling, before taking stock of his situation. He still had his bag and the clippers, fortunately, but wet fabric over fur was never a comfortable experience. He considered briefly heading back and getting his spare uniform, then dismissed the thought. He'd already lost time on Recruit Loren by heading back to get the clippers in the first place, if he went back again now, he'd have little time left over to finish the task assigned him.

He was able to collect a good score of the apple-like fruits before continuing on. Vince turned around every so often so that he'd recognize the trees more easily when he came back this way. At the bottom of a slight downgrade, he found a banana tree. These in particular didn't look quite ripe yet, though with bananas that wasn't really an issue. What was a problem was that Vince still hadn't dried off, and given that he wasn't particularly interested in climbing the eighteen feet necessary to reach the fruit. That would be dangerous. Now if the tree had had branches, he might consider it. As it was though, no.

About half an hour since he left Lieutenant Areta, he heard what sounded like a muffled roar through the trees. With how dense the foliage was, Vince couldn't tell much about it beyond that it was between him and the camp, and very probably more dangerous than climbing banana trees while wet. Even at such a distance, it took the bear several moments to convince himself that, no, whatever it was wasn't roaring at him, and yes, he could keep moving and didn't have to stay rooted to the spot.

Tigermark nodded at the proper report.

"Recruit Triakis."

He took the lance and inspected it in his usual pattern, then returned it to the recruit and took up the clip. After inspecting it and returning it as well, he fixed the shark with a neutral look.

"I'm sure you'll get better at this by the end of the week. Wipe the whole weapon down again to get those last specks off, and brush between the on-off collar and the grip. Then rack your lance and put the clip on the charger.When you're done we'l start..."

Just then a loud commotion caught the tiger's attention. Across the camp, the recruit who'd been so interested in watching the sparring earlier came running full tilt out of the jungle, screaming at the top of his lungs, with a colony of juvenile chimenticores in full screech behind him.

Tigermark shrugged and continued.

"When you're done we'll start PT and then break for lunch."

"Will do sir" Taking the devices back, he was grateful the check had gone by well enough.

And Tigermark could bet his bottom dollar that Razor would get better at this whole weapons thing. He was bound and determined at this point. When the Commander's voice trialed of, the shark looked up again, wondering what had gotten his attention. Following his gaze, he saw the white fox from earlier running out of the woods like a mad man, closely followed by a hoard of small bats. Razor's jaw worked a bit as he held back a snicker that threatened to escape his mouth.

"I'mma, uh, I'mma go get this thing cleaned and line up for PT, Sir"

Taking one more glance towards the unfortunate fox, he walked back to the benches to clean up his lance and put it away. He approached Keir with a look, "So I'mma bit skittish, its in mah nature"

All of a sudden, a bout of screaming could be heard coming from the forest and Keir, not knowing what kinds of feral animals were waiting out there, dropped into a light fighting stance. However, upon seeing the small arctic fox from earlier around the sparring matches come barreling out of the trees with a large group of feral bats after him.

"Poor kid," Keir said, frowning and resuming his normal stance. When Razor came up from behind and mentioned his skittish nature, Keir laughed a bit and replied with: "But, you're a shark? Aren't you supposed to be like, all scary and stuff? Ah but it's alright lad. I was just teasin' ya!"

"Alright recruits," Tigermark stated, wanting to get going and get PT done before lunch. "Here's how PT is going to go. I know, you may be able to do this without breaking a sweat, as your own personal exercise regimen may be a lot tougher. Today is more to assess your level of fitness as a group, and then we'll go from there for the rest of the week.'

He led them over to where the trail around the camp started.

"Line up, two abreast. Razor and O'Brown in front, Nielson and Mahlonne in back. We're going to make two laps of the camp, but we will be doing it IN formation and IN step. At points along the rail, there are clearings. One is here, then at 3 other places, equal distance apart. At each one, we will stop, do a set of exercises, and then go on. All in count and all in formation. The first clearing will be push-ups, four count."

Here he eyed them a second.

"Fifty reps. The second will be situps, also fifty, the third is jumping jacks, four count, fifty reps, and then here again for leg lifts, fifty. Again, we will do this all in step and all in formation. Line up, we'll start off at a march, and then when I see you have it, we'll go double-time."

"Ready? FOH-AHD MARCH! Left, left, left,right,left..."

Keir followed Tigermark's orders swiftly, jumping in line behind Razor and readying for the challenge ahead. Thinking back to his days on the farm, this shouldn't be too hard. He had done more difficult strenuous workouts and motions. But it would be interesting to see how everything combined together would react with all of them. He looked over at Eddie, then down to Razor and Angus watching them carefully as they marched, keeping his strides short to prevent stepping on their heels.

Razor rolled his eyes at the wolf's generalization of his species' nature, planning to give him a brief lecture during the lunch period. But first, PT.

Stepping next to Angus, he gave commander Tigermark his full attention. Sounded like they'd be getting a nice little work before lunch...good thing too, as he wanted to work up a healthy appetite. When the call came, Razor started forward and soon enough gained a rhythm with Tigermark's commands.

It was his personal opinion that these exercises would prove more familiar to than maintenance work and redeem him of his less than impressive attempt at cleaning the lance.

Angus stepped next to Razor and allready warm from his punishment round. Quickly stepped in line with the shark and tryed to match his steps as they began to run after the commander called them to move their butts .

Just when it seemed like the brothers might actually get a chance at demonstrating what they knew to Lady Bane, perhaps asking her if it was feasible for their technology levels or if they'd have to think smaller, another recruit got overly curious and careless, turning himself into a small, adorable rabbit and disorienting them with a big flash.

After they rubbed their eyes and regained their sight, Lukas noticed Niko on the verge of laughter. One of Lukas's hands shot up to wrap around Niko's muzzle and tighten it. He'd noticed that laughter was just about the farthest thing from Bane's mind. "Not a sound," he whispered, making Niko merely smile enough to make himself sore.

"Is he going to be alright?" Alec asked as Bane took the bunnified fox outside the tent. His ears folded back, wincing from how loudly Bane had shouted. "Is he?"

"I doubt that our superiors would keep a device like that within reach if they didn't have a way to reverse its effects," Lukas said, looking back down at their finished blueprints. There were still a few gaps in it that would prevent the dream monitor from being made without further assistance. "I suspect that in the meantime we will have to create a backup plan."

Niko groaned and ran a hand through his hair. "Okay, so how about my idea, then?"

"The gauntlets?" Lukas asked.

"Yeah. No offense, but that seems way more doable than just AI."

"Granted, but if we only restrict them to gauntlets it would limit the applications of the enhanced strength to the fingers. Any serious lifting would require a full suit of armor to ensure that the stress doesn't cause any injury."

"Right."

"And the main obstacle as I see it is miniaturization. Making something that encases a living body and mimics the muscular motions with greater force is one thing, but making it in a reasonable size and accounting for the wearer's safety is another."

As Lukas and Niko talked about their new project, Alec looked around at the others in the tent. He took notice of Socks, who he already knew, the elderly snow leopard, and the cybernetic sphinx-looking guy. "I'd love to test your tea machine if you ever get it working," he told the leopard. "It sounds convenient. All varieties you'd want in one package, right? I'm Alec." He tried to turn to shake Gu Jiao's hand, but his brothers kept their torso in the same position, making Alec look awkward.

Seeing that everyone was, surprisingly, in step and marching correctly, Tigermark called out.

"DOUBLE-TIME, MARCH! Left, left, left-right-left! That's right, good."

He was jogging them at a fast pace, and it didn't take very long for them to reach the first clearing.

"READY, SQUAD HALT! Drop and gimmie Fifty! Ready, One, Two, Three, ONE! One, Two, Three, TWO..."

Bane was in the latrines, she had to work fast but disciplineing oversights like this was something she didn't take lightly. She had bound Dean to a stick with thick rope and, making sure he was secured dunked him in soap and began scrubbing the floor with him. "Barred from Research!" She growlled. "When you change back your going to finish cleaning, and then your going to base ops." Her fur was fully fluffed with anger by this point. "Can't be trusted around weapons, then you can't be trusted around experiments. A reasearcher knows better than to poke unidentified equipment. You. could. have KILLED someone!" She hissed as she emphasized her words with each scrub. "Poor spynx covered in prostetics! if ray had hit him, it would have killed him!" She snorted through her nostrils and dunked him in the water again. "I catchyou anywhere near R&D I will bite you and have you shipped back home. Base operative now... no weapons, no experiments!"

Angus began to make the required Push ups trying to be in sync with Razor.
It was very differrent from the hard work in the woods he normally did and he tryed his best. "looks like I have to keep a better workout routine " he thought to himself.

With their increase in speed, the first clearing came upon them rather quickly, faster than he'd expected actually. Dropping to all fours, he began the quota of push-ups, keeping in time with Tigermark's commands. His muscles were primed, used to this type of conditioning work .

He kept his body at around a 45 degree angle, stiff and straight as a plank. As his body descended, he took a breath, exhaling as his body rose back to the starting position. This continued in the same fashion, focusing on keeping his movements exact and utilizing proper form. There was a passing thought of applying such precision to his weapon cleaning as well, seeing as he let that hypothetically fall by the wayside. He glanced at Angus out of the corner of his eyes, glad to see he was keeping up for the time being. It was obvious the bear was doing his best, but it was unclear for the shark just how far he would push himself.

As for the other two recruits behind them, he'd have to ask later. Personally, he was enjoying this.

[Shard Loren]

Shard had stopped running now that the bats were gone. he shook himself off and suddenly became fully aware of the eyes of those recruits and officers who were not busy on him, after all he did make quite a scene when he bust through the trees. he cleared his throat and stood as proudly as he could manage with a leg covers in mud and leaves and twigs stuck in his fur. "What? never seen a Fox embarrass himself before?" then he made his way over to Lt. Areta and handed her the woven bag full of the fruits and vegetables he'd collected. "I hope these are to your satisfaction Lt." he said, then he stood to attention and saluted.

Apparently arriving at our destination Lady Bane sets the cage down twisting as I am to literally mop the latrines, nearly losing my lunch at the ripped to pieces part. Just do base operations no problem can do, getting dunked again. Clean until they say it’s clean enough, not when you think it’s good enough. Why did you forget rule #1 of weaponry the gun is always loaded why must you jump to #2 the never aim for anything you don’t want destroyed. Base operations that would be Lt. Areta?, being this size does have an unintended advantage as being able to get behind the toilets.

Once the group got going, Keir realized that the four of them may have more in common than he thought, seeing as to how they all adapted very quickly to the situation. Hearing the Commander's call for double time, Keir pushed his into a light jog, being able to take slightly larger steps and a wider spread. They fell upon the clearing almost immediately, and once the order was given, he dropped to the ground, just behind Razor. Keir kept his head straight and his body nearly flat as he fell into rhythm with the others.

As Vince continued walking, he came to a place where there was a break in the trees overhead. Sunlight shone through the clearing, and the bear immediately scanned the growth here for a familiar type of leaf. Finding what he was looking for, he set his bag down and worked at the earth at the base of the plant with his hands and claws. Soon he had extracted the tuberous root, which could be baked like a potato, or used in sauces and desserts. Vince dug up several more arrowroot from around the clearing, cut the stems free using the clippers, and laid the leafy stalks at the roots of one of the nearby trees to eventually serve as fertilizer.

This task finished, Vince picked up his bag again. Glancing up at the sky to check the time, the bear decided it would be best if he didn't stay out too much longer before heading back. He'd done pretty well for himself already, he thought, and there were foodstuffs that tended to grow more toward the ocean. He paused for a moment, considering what he'd already managed to harvest. They shouldn't bruise so easily if he picked up his pace a bit, though the apple-like fruit would need to be eaten relatively soon after it was picked or it would spoil. He started jogging in the direction he remembered the water being.

Vince's head came up as he scented the ocean. What he was looking for should be around this area then, and he did find the plants closer to the coast. There were several of the trees, and as the fruit was a particular favorite of his, he gathered as much of them as he could in the remaining time he'd given himself before heading back. Seagrapes were wonderful on their own, as far as he was concerned, and could also be made into fantastic jam. Vince knew they could be fermented into wine or vinegar as well, though he lacked experience in that area. He even climbed some of them, damp fur non-withstanding, to get at their bounty for they were older, larger trees and not the more shrub-like form they took on occasion. At the very least, his feet had dried out enough to provide him with a good grip. With his bag almost filled now, he started on the most direct route back to where Lieutenant Areta was waiting - the same way that he had come, but in a line this time, without curves and detours for food, and without crossing over the stream again.

"One, two, three, FIFTY! Okay, on your feet, Foh-ARD, MARCH! Doubletime, March! Left, left, left right left."

Tigermark counted off the last of the pushups and got them up and on the run again. So far all four were keeping up well. Many didn't realize it was twice as hard to do just about anything in sync and at a different pace than what was normal for someone. This group was doing fine, but it was only the first stop. They'd do two laps of the camp this way. If they got to slowing down on lap 2, he'd do a jodi to keep them going and keep the pace up. (A jodi is a cadence song)

Lexaniri was up early, in fact already getting dressed and leaving the tent before the first rays of the sun had started to paint the landscape.  It did not appear that the mess tent was up and running for the morning chow line, nor did it seem that anyone else had gotten up of yet.  “Good,” she thought as she stalked off down the beach a ways.  She needed a little time to think and she didn’t figure anyone would miss her at this hour.  A small distance away, she would pause, gather some fruit from some of the trees and bushes.  Enough to tide her over for the time being.  She did still have and use her small sling bag for such occasions, a good old habit she had as sometimes food was scarce, and one would need to grab what one could use when it was available.  Either way, she had enough to pass for a small breakfast, and made her way over to one of the taller trees.

When she was unsure of herself or really in a need for a deep think, she had a tradition of getting up early and climbing such a tree, to break out above the canopy, if only to watch the sun rise over the trees and island features.  The view was something that helped to calm her, helped her to collect her thoughts, and generally try and forget some concerns from a bad memory or day.  “At least this doesn’t seem to get in the way…” she thought concerning the uniform.  She paused, eating some of the fruits she had collected, taking a heavy sigh as she watched the first red and golden rays start to appear, start to kiss the jungle canopy.  “Hopefully things go better today…” she thought, resting in the crook of a couple branches.  She continued to watch, and stare out over the island for a while, not truly thinking of anything in particular, as her ears swiveled about taking in what she could find within earshot.  She started to pick up some sounds from the camp, she figured was those going to the mess tent and getting their breakfast for the day, even as she had already been eating.  She sat there thinking about what today could bring, but time did seem to get away from her as the noises had changed.

“Hopefully… today will go better,” she thought just before a loud almost animalistic voice of displeasure came from the camp, she suddenly waking her from her thoughts.  She nearly lost her grip as she jumped in surprise.  “I’m late!” she said out loud, readjusting her sling sack, a rushed dismount could become very messy.  She worked quickly, nearly lunging down branches, knocking loose debris and leaves as she used gravity and barely used her grip to slow her decent.  If it wasn’t someone use to seeing her, they would think she was more likely falling than lunging downwards from branch to branch.  But in the end, her paws kicked up soil in a landing that turned quickly into a sprint back towards camp.  It didn’t take her long to make her way back, as she knew how to work her way through the underbrush and soon found the crowd of recruits and the officers.

Looking quickly over the officers and what they were supervising, she quickly deduced which one was Lieutenant Areta.  Seeing the quoll she had encountered earlier the previous day.  Upon remembering how their meeting went, she just about face-palmed, but instead, only her eyes squinted and her ears folded down and back in both her lateness and dread of the situation.  “That’s it… I might as well pack up and go…” she thought as she moved forward and tried to straighten her look.

“Recruit Lexaniri reporting, Ma’am,” She said, still slightly winded and trying to stand at attention.  Though she did perhaps look a little more ridiculous than some of the other recruits, as there was a few left over leaves and a twig caught up in her hair after her dismount and run through the underbrush.

The push-ups went fine for Eddie, as he was sure they would. It was an unusual way to use his arm-wings, but you can't fly well without strong upper body muscles. He was glad that he was in the back, though. It was much easier to keep in synch when he could easily see Angus and Razor, at least it felt easier. When they started, he had estimated that he'd do fairly well in the sit-ups as well, but now, he was in the moment, focusing entirely at matching the pace of the changing tasks at hand.

Being a mop that is probably the… suddenly a strange feeling begins to creep over me, as I smack spine first into the toilet.  I’m growing! The Bunny ray it’s temporary! “Thank everything! My voice! It’s coming back!” I’m still bound to the mop handle but, that I can easily take care of with my teeth, or I can be untied whatever.  Standing facing Lady Bane with my tail curled up between my legs. “You have my word as a gentle fur and a scholar I will not Enter R&D without your permission or unless ordered to do so.” Saluting her I slink backwards away snatching a towel from a shelf and further into the latrines, must either get clothes or get to the showers.  Twisting around to look at my back in the mirror, its coming back the missing hair is growing back it’s going to be a cross again, or rather a large plus sign.  Thinking briefly about things as I clean and how every year my cousins manage to pull some prank this year they managed to get a circle of hair remover around the little plus sign turning it into a big set of cross hairs making me “cannon fodder.”  They love, they kid, but last year when they managed to turn me pink for a while… that was interesting.  The year before that when I ended up hanging upside down by my ankle for the better part of ten minutes as they weren't around to immediately set me free, that was interesting.  The first time they dyed me blue and I liked it so much I stayed blue for years, that was interesting. This is a new and entirely different level of interesting now if I can just keep calm and hopefully no one will need to use the latrines.  Well Stanley this is another fine mess you've gotten yourself into.  This isn't the time for humor, you could have killed someone!  Get this through your head, YOU NEARLY KILLED SOMEONE!  You sat facing away from the group, at a table you shouldn't have been anywhere near, you poked a weapon, A WEAPON! With a pencil.  You have never done anything this Stupid, you either need to admit to being cannon fod… oh.  Why am I sabotaging myself?
“Get back to Work!”
“Yes Sir!” unaware I had stopped, when I had stopped, or for how long I quickly get back to work and gather up the scrub brush for the sinks.  You haven’t sabotaged yourself like this in years, why have you started it up again.  Continuing to clean the scents away as I think it can’t be entirely me as my identity was stolen and my footlocker was chained to the boat with a wallet chain.  It’s not like… slamming the scrub brush down.  “DAMON’S WALLET CHAIN! Oh that little!” suddenly remembering the brief glance at the familiar stranger on the boat keeping upwind of me.  thinking to myself
“Damon, if I get kicked out because of myself that’s fine but,” sticking my head out the window to spot him at the dock getting on a ferry.  “If you try anything.” Watching as he takes notice of me and waves politely as the ferry leaves its deposited cargo on the dock, I honestly forgot he worked on his father’s ferry the # 24.  Either way If I go back home and I start my little repair shop up again his contract is toast, prank or no prank!
